A username is a name that is used to identify a user on a computer system, such as an online chat network. Real names are to be avoided on ARRSE, where personal security is an issue.
Choosing a username is a process fraught with difficulty. On the one hand it should sum up the user in only one or two words but at the same time convey little if anything by way of offline identification. Unfortunately usernames also present opportunities for underachieving mongs to indulge their warped fantasies. Anyone calling themselves Hardman, Killer or SF Expert is likely to be 15 (age and/or IQ), stands no chance of ever serving and pulls the legs off spiders. Probably.
