TLA for Troop Carrying Vehicle, normally a Four Tonner Bedford or DAF.

If you note on your orders that you will be being moved by TCV, wrap up warm, take something soft to sit on and have your waterproofs with you as you aren't going to be travelling in any kind of luxury.

If you are sat near the front of the TCV, but not in the cab, you have the advantage of being in the warmest and driest part of the truck, but don't expect to know where the hell you are when you get out.

If you are near the tail gate, you will have plenty of opportunity to admire the scenery and wave to, and thereby impress, the local ladies on your route, but you will get cold and wet.

Basically, if you are travelling by TCV make sure you are in the cab.
