The Royal Regiment of Wales was formed in 1969 and was an infantry regiment of the British Army, part of the Prince of Wales's Division.

With the Royal Welch Fusiliers, the Royal Regiment of Wales was one of two British regiments to have a goat as its mascot.

On the 1 March 2006, the Royal Regiment of Wales was amalgamated with the Royal Welch Fusiliers to form the Royal Welsh.
