Glider Pilot Regiment

Sir, your deathtrap awaits!

Gliders were used exclusively during the Second World War to land combat troops/equipment in a more focused, organized manner than parachuting them in.

The gliders housed pilots with Nelson sized balls to even think of attempting to land a cumbersome unprotected glider in areas the size of a hankie while under fire from peeved defenders. Although landings could be quick and without problems, some went seriously tits-up due to obstructions/minefields.

Some, if not, all were issued with Enfield, Webley or Browning HP side-arms to develop some usefulness when they landed so becoming ad hoc infantry.
