A TA full Colonel's appointment formally known as the Colonel of Volunteers. The role of this job is to protect the interests of the TA RLC units. Col RLC TA also sits on the dreaded Corps Dress Committee.

Generally this post is a final tour position prior to retirement from the service and can be regarded as the highest position that can be achieved within an RLC(V) officers career although the heady heights of Brigadier Theatre Troops has been known to have been surmounted.

This position also entitles the post of ADC, which further embellishes the post holder's mess kit with a stonking great gold aiguillette with which to impress the ladies.
