The British Armed Forces Federation (BAFF) is the independent representative professional staff association for Her Majesty's Armed Forces; definitely not a union, and often featured on ARRSE. BAFF is tri-service, and open to all ranks.
The Federation's website says that "Membership is open to everyone serving in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army or Royal Air Force, including the reserves."
Former serving regular or reserve personnel can also join.
ArmyNet members taking part in a poll in 2008 voted by a large majority in favour of having a representative federation. 'British soldiers want a federation'.
