Andorra

From ARRSEpedia

According to Wikipedia - The Principality of Andorra (Catalan: Principat d'Andorra) is a small landlocked country in south-western Europe, located in the eastern Pyrenees mountains and bordered by France and Spain. Once isolated, it is currently a prosperous country mainly because of tourism and its status as a tax haven. It has the highest life expectancy in the world, at 83.51 years.

Whilst all of this information is correct, the only really worthwhile things about Andorra are the skiing and the lack of tax. This is reflected in the high street of the principalities capital, Andorra la Vella. Here you will find an endless series of ski shops, electrical shops and tobacconists that stretch for miles and miles in a smog clogged neon lit noise polluted mess of slush and Irish people. Yes, families of the Emerald Toilet seem inexplicably attracted here.

The best skiing in Andorra is found in the enormous Gran Valira ski area where you will find Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp. High altitude skiing, good weather and plenty of San Miguel.

While in Andorra, you may like to indulge in the popular pastime of buying obscenely strong liquor for no money at all. Amongst the bottles of Absinthe and Vodka, you can pick up a 500ml bottle of 97%vol mixing alcohol for just under €4.

Interesting Andorra fact: German troops mistakenly invaded Andorra in 1939 without realising it existed. After 9 miles, the Germans noticed they had entered a neutral country and withdrew.
