- 21 July: The first Man landed on the Moon. Or faked it in a film studio, if you purchase your headgear from Tin-Foil Hats-r-Us.
- 5 October: Monty Python's Flying Circus premieres on the BBC.
Military Events
The following military events took place in 1969:
- 20 April: British troops called out to assist the Royal Ulster Constabulary.
- 10 May: Vietnam War, Battle of Dong Ap Bia (aka Hamburger Hill) begins.
- 19 May: French Foreign Legion paras land at Kolwezi, Congo, to rescue European hostages.
- Formation of The Royal Regiment of Wales.
