Young Reserve Officer Workshop, Norway, 2010

Young Officer? Under 30? Need a mojo boost? Look here!

The Young Reserve Officers Workshop (YROW) is an annual week-long programme run by the Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR) and is designed to be a young officer's first international exposure to colleagues from NATO and its Partners.

The standard instruction was cascaded to all major HQs earlier this month but returns to date have been low. As with similar trawls, the ARRSE moderators have kindly allowed the trawl to be advertised here.

This year YROW will be held in Stavanger, Norway in conjunction with the CIOR Summer Congress between the 7 to 15 Aug. The programme is open to any young officer who:

1. Is under 30
2. In the TA, RMR, RNR or RAuxAF
3. Holds the rank of Captain or below
4. Able to spend 7-15 Aug in Norway

UK participants in YROW are sponsored by UKRFA, who cover the registration fee, travel and associated costs. MTDs and T&S within the UK remain the responsibility of the participants’ parent unit. Additionally individuals will need to have their CO’s recommendation since selected candidates will be representing the UK in an international arena.

As a former participant in YROW, and a UK representative on a CIOR committee, I can wholeheartedly recommend YROW as a great opportunity to meet other reservists from across the globe, whilst working and socialising in a demanding environment.

The deadline for applications is the end of this month and interested parties are strongly encouraged to PM me for the official YROW briefing document (which can be distributed by civy email).
