Did he spill the chaps pintAt my first job after leaving the Army I was ‘apprenticed’ to a really nice bloke who it transpired had done over five years for offences connected with attacking his ex-wife’s partner in a pub. He’d seen his then separated wife enjoying a drink with some unknown male (and getting a little frisky) so he’d gone home calmly , collected an axe and returned to the pub and took a swing at the blokes head, the poor bloke moved his head as a reflex to being attacked with an axe and the blow hit his shoulder - severing his arm bar a bit of sinew. My colleague then left and walked home like nothing had happened … where he was arrested shortly after. He was such a nice bloke - patient , caring and funny - I’d never have thought him capable of such extreme violence

A lad I knocked about with as a teenager and lived at the other end of the street ended up doing several years for a stash of kiddie porn on his PC.

There was a squipper at Brize who was one of our drinking cabal. One Saturday evening he comes staggering through the main gate caked In blood. The guard - thinking he'd been attacked - challenged him, only to be threatened. The guard let him through and immediately contacted RAFP who lifted him. Civ plod weren't far behind.
Turns out he'd been watching porn all day, was off his tits and went into Carterton to chance his arm with a local lass he knew. Advances spurned he stabs her.
Under interview, a detective notices something odd and starts joining dots. He was apparently ex-Surrey plod now in Thames Valley. When quizzed about previously owned vehicles, the miscreant admitted he'd once owned a specific type and colour, which lead to him singing like a bird over a murdered girl in Guildford - who'd been strangled with a specific type of cord - used on a handful of kit, one of which was MS26 liferafts, used on VC10s. You're nicked, you slaaag!

A good mate of mine I knew in the infantry about 17/18 years ago went AWOL. Never came back. Since googling him, I found out he was arrested for drug offences in 2015 and was given a prison sentence. This was a big criminal operation. His dad was also sent to jail- although I always suspected he was a bit ‘dodgy’.
Last time I saw him was about 12 years ago by chance at Bluewater shopping centre.We exchanged pleasantries and loosely agreed to meet up for a pint but never did. I was a civie by then.
Then about 3 or 4 years ago I read in the paper that a bloke I knew ( same regiment) had stabbed his girlfriend to death and handed himself in to the Police.He got a life sentence. He blamed his actions on PTSD.
Then I also heard about an RLC bloke I knew who was later convicted of sexual assault on a female soldier.He’d almost completed his full career by then so would have been kicked out before being jailed. I presume he’d lose his pension.

Also not my story. But when I was in the prison service I got chatting to a guy from another prison. He mentioned that one of his colleagues had been downloading child porn and was eventually caught. This guy has done over 25 years in the service and was a much respected and experienced bloke. Completely shocked everyone by all accounts - no one had seen it coming.
