You are a racist - official

So, if that link from a few hundred years ago is relevant, is our link to slaving in the past still relevant and worthy of comment?

You get racism and racist everywhere, nowhere is free of it, only laws and socially accepted norms subdue it in those who would otherwise feel free to express it.

As far as I am aware the Arabs mainly, and some indigenous tribes in central and west Africa, captured people that were forced into slavery. That is from just about any non biased historical source that any of us are free to explore.

Transportation of the slaves from West Africa across the Atlantic - which I think you are alluding to when you mention the link to 'our' relevance to slaving in the past - is a subject where you have to decide whether it is worthy of comment.

Concerning your second paragraph, I concur with every word you say and would hope that any sane and decent human being would agree.

No. I don't agree and by and large I'm considered a sane and decent human being -- I even have pieces of official paper to prove that (shades of I'm the only one that can prove I'm sane?).

The smallest [imagined] slight these days is deemed -- and accepted -- as racist.

Minority imposed constraints upon the majority (and I don't necessarily mean those by ethnic minorities) will as always lead to a backlash. The pendulum swings both ways, eventually.

You don't get it, gimp is exempt from any criticism. He froths on here but its righteous because he is always right. No matter swearing or name calling in the Int Cell, just remember gimp should not be challenged.

Careful, now!

Prod him too much and he'll give you a damned good booing: he has form for that, you know

What an excellent way to spend an afternoon.

Big big crowd. Great vibes. Almost tripped over Owen Jones halfway round and followed peter tatchel around most the way.

Any wayward/brave/lost Tommy fanboys got surrounded and given a good booing before being escorted away for their own safety

Must have been a bone crushing policing bill. Hundreds of them

slavery was practiced Allez uber.

Britain had indentured miners, servants, and other workers. Eastern Europe especially had serfs.

the middle eadt, china, South America all had slavery in various forms.

then there's Africa. Big on slavery. White gold, Berber pirates in the north. Chattel slavery down south.

it wasn't too difficult to convince the kings of various tribes to sell captured folk for use in the new world.

eventually Britain realised slavery was a bit c*ntish. And set about stopping it. Including the Portuguese, Spanish, etc. The royal navy's Caribbean squadron was quite smashed up in stopping the practice.

Course. No one remembers that bit.

Abraham Lincoln. Famous for ending slavery had about 100 slaves of his own iirc.

my bad. It was Washington who had the slaves. Lincoln wanted to f*ck 'am all off back to Africa until he realised he needed more troops.

or recognized how these actions prevented thousands of their descendants from drowning in the Med (along with the RBLI of course).

What sort of arrse attaches great importance to the thoughts and opinions of actors, comedians, rappers and ‘rock stars’ on matters beyond their expertise?

There’s a ‘Yes Pest’ narrative in Scotland that holy Scotland wasn’t involved in slavery. Scotland was up to its neck in it.

The type of arrse who calls the working class "uneducated" and "low-information".

Then they wonder why the workers don't flock to their banner after insulting them like that.

Yes, you are quite right. (I was responding to a question about the Arabs btw).
