Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. British Council staff data lost

A disk containing sensitive personal details of about 2,000 staff of the British Council - the UK's worldwide cultural body - has been lost.

The disk, which was mislaid in December by courier firm TNT, contained names, salaries, national insurance numbers and bank account numbers. Full Story
  2. And it was encrypted, so no issue re compromise. Just need to give the courier a sharp kick up the jacksy, again...
  3. TNT and DHL must be now the largest data holding groups in the world. :D
Pity is all sat in the corner of one of their warehouses saying "unable to deliver"
As someone who managed a company who moved thousands of parcels a month through these and other courier organisations i would not trust them with anything you actually valued.

It goes right until it goes wrong and its always that same important delivery that goes wrong
