WW1 veteran gets freedom of his town

WWI veteran honoured by home town:

Well done Mr Allingham

I sure hope that he enjoyed the day and that bottle of malt.

"Mr Allingham said the whisky, along with "cigarettes and wild, wild women", was the secret of his long life. "

I can only hope to be half the person he is.

Mr Allingham, who turns 110 on 6 June, began his military career as an Air Mechanic Second Class in September 1915.
He joined the Royal Naval Air Service, serving on the armed trawler HMT Kingfisher, which was involved in the greatest naval battle of the Great War, the Battle of Jutland in 1916.
He transferred to the newly-formed RAF in 1918 and remained in the service until he was discharged in 1919
this is the type of thing that puts a smile on my face for the rest of the day.

good on ya Mr Allingham. :D

Well done Eastbourne and well done Henry

Thoroughly deserved.

Eastbourne should be honoured that such a gentleman choses to reside there. :)
He's a breed apart from the widespread scum souring the values and littering the very land that Mr Allingham and his generation fought so valiantly for....... [stops before full blown rant ensues]
