My eldest has just got back from a schools WW1 battlefield tour.

Was selected to deliver the exhortation at the Mennen Gate.

I know kids of today get some stick but I am one very very proud Dad :D

    These tours should be compulsory
  2. Good for him (and you!).

i would feel exactly like that - and i'm glad for you both

must have been a very touchy moment for your son

i'm looking forward to visiting ypres and the menin gate memorial in april
  4. My eldest was on a school trip to the battle fields last year, he got to lay a wreath from his class at Menin gate. Made an huge impact on him and his class mates.
I agree that as many kids as possible should go.
thier school has done it for the last few years, my daughter go's this year, well worth the money.

Thanks all, it was actually my daughter, didnt make it very clear in my post.

I would shite myself if I had to do it now, let alone at 14. The funny things is, all the kids have been buzzing about it today, MSN Messenger, BEBO etc (if you have kids you will know what I mean). Definately not a chore or something to be cynical about.

Well worth the money, I am quite jealous really. Would like to go myself

Thanks Oldbaldy, I read the link from before but start a new contract mid March so can't. Its a shame, the tour looks great. Hope you all have a great time.
