Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Shouldn't it be

Specialist Handlers (of) Information Technology ?
  2. IS Ski Geek

IS Ski Geek War Hero Moderator

  3. Why a seperate organisation, why not Telecommunications Engineers and cover all aspects..............newbes always trying to go one better.
  4. You've nicked my sig block!
  5. In my humble opinion, the difference is that Telecommunications Engineers don't really go near the business end of ICS, y'know stuff like business intelligence, applications, services. In some ways perhaps it's the difference between 'data' and 'information' - one lot of professionals deal with getting raw data from A to B as efficiently, quickly and securely as possible and the other lot deal in translating the data into information that can be exploited. That's not based on any definition of course, just my observations.

Mind you they're hardly newbes [sic], redshaggydog, they've been going for over 20 yrs apparently.
