Hi there I hope this is the appropriate place to post (also in Charities & Welfare). Monty Roberts, a world famous horse trainer, has been working in the USA with war veterans suffering from PTSD. His workshops have been extremely successful, developing a program offering a free three day workshop to help transform the lives of these soldiers suffering great emotional trauma. The healing power of these methods and working hands on with the horses can have an immense impact on those struggling to cope with day to day life. http://www.montyroberts.com/wp-conte...6-2012_web.pdf The veterans learn to interpret the behaviour of horses and achieve Join-Up, the moment when a horse will trust human contact. It is a powerful parallel for soldiers coping with emotional trauma. After three transformational days, the veterans will better understand how to control their anger, confront painful memories, cope with real-life situations and move on with their lives and relationships. This video shows some of the most recent success stories with this programme: Horse Sense and Soldiers: Join-Up with Veterans | Monty Roberts Recently whilst in Australia, Monty invited two Vietnam veterans to attend one of his horsemanship demonstrations. These two men had suffered great trauma in their lives, and despite much counselling and on-going support, were still much troubled. During the demonstration, Monty invited them to talk a little about their experiences, and then each man worked with a horse, live in front of the audience. They were both struck by the powerful but simple principles of trust and respect that this experience gave them, and could not contain their excitement and joy they felt. As a result of this, Monty has been invited back to Australia to look at setting up an ongoing programme of workshops for ex-military personnel. Monty Roberts is currently in the UK for his Autumn Tour, and is very keen to work with British ex-service personnel who have suffered with PTSD and similar anxiety and stress issues. We strongly believe that this would be a powerful and positive experience for any veterans who would like to participate. The dates for the tour are as follows: Sat 13[SUP]th[/SUP] Oct Hadlow College, Tonbridge, Kent Wed 17[SUP]th[/SUP] Oct Easton College, Norwich, Norfolk Fri 19[SUP]th[/SUP] Oct Bishop Burton College, Beverley, Hull Sun 21[SUP]st[/SUP] Oct Myerscough College, Preston, Lancs Tues 23[SUP]rd[/SUP] Oct Greenlands EC, Carlisle, Cumbria Thurs 25[SUP]th[/SUP] Oct Ingliston EC, Bishopston, Renfrewshire Sat 27[SUP]th[/SUP] Oct Reaseheath College, Nantwich, Cheshire Wed 31[SUP]st[/SUP] Oct The Grange EC, Okehampton, Devon Fri 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Nov Hartpury College, Gloucester, Glos Mon 5[SUP]th[/SUP] Nov Crofton Manor, Fareham, Hants Similarly to the Australia demo, we would love to work with a couple of veterans at as many of these demos as possible. This could be either live in front of the audience, or a private session in the afternoon if that would be more in the interests of the individuals. The most important thing is to work in the best way for the benefit of each veteran, and to see what help Monty can offer to the British Military. If anyone is interested in finding out more about taking part in one of these demonstrations, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with 'PTSD Demo' in the title. We see this as not only hopefully of great benefit to any individual taking part, but also a powerful opportunity to gain greater understanding with the general public as to the difficulties that living with PTSD brings. Once again I hope this is OK to post here - thank you.
