    A splash of olive oil in the water stops the pasta sticking and gives it the right texture.

  8. But much better fried with square sausage, links, bacon, eggs, black pudding, fruit pudding, bread, tomato and beans. And a big fuck off mug of tea.   11. Unless one is cooking sweetcorn - as salt water toughens the skin. When cooking potatoes, add a teaspoon of sugar 5mins before the end. It makes them fluffy and tastier.

  14. Salt is good, but I suggest a little bit of olive oil, as well. If you're just parboiling the pasta in a very small amount of water,, before baking it (lasagna, manicotti, etc), a touch of truffle oil adds a subtle and understated umami to the noodles. Hope this helps.
