there have been a handful of cases been taken to court but the maximum penalty, if the employer is found to have acted illegally, is something like £5000.00 and they still dont have to re-employ the person involved :roll:
Face facts, it's cheaper and easier for an employer to sack a Reservist employee. The penalty for breaking the law is no deterrent and won't be until the fine significantly exceeds the costs of temporarily replacing the mobilised reservist or individual signing the dismissal letter is jailed.

However, no government of any persuasion will risk the backlash from employers. For one thing, they'd simply refuse to employ reservists.
