TROUBLED: A Nimrod at RAF Kinloss.
Grounding the remaining Nimrods would have a devastating impact on the war against the Taliban.

The venerable MR2, nicknamed "The Mighty Hunter" by its crews, is the airborne eyes and ears of Nato troops fighting in Afghanistan's Helmand and Kandahar provinces.

If the two Kinloss-based operational squadrons were grounded, thousands of British, US and Canadian soldiers would be placed at increased risk in southern Afghanistan.
