Wifes Grandad's medals

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. My wifes Grandad has asked me to sort out the medals he can wear. He did National Service 1947 -1949 and was UK based.

I don't believe he is entitled to any real medals and would only get some bling really, but he would be so happy to have them in a frame at home.

So how do I find out what he can have?
  2. National Service Medals

Here you go. As you said, he doesn't appear to be entitled to have any official medals. There's a company called Award Medals that sells "commemorative" medals if you're that way inclined...

  3. I'm not that way inclined but he is in his 70's with dementia and it would make his month. Easy wins and if it give him a couple of good days it's more than the doctors can do.
