Why hasn't Britain got a paramilitary?

I was just looking at the various countries with a paramilitary, and we seem to be one of the only ones without one.

All depends on which definition you care to choose - are we talking Paramilitary as in UDF, UDA or are we talking Militia? Have a look here
Link and get back when you've decided

You mean a militia, right? Think for a moment and wonder how a British militia would arm themselves. Butcher's knife on a broom-handle? .22 VS AK47? Ugly's only got so many to go around...

Not aside from the fact that we're British and it's not the done thing to leave these kind of things in the hands of amateurs.

Would depend on your definition of 'paramilitary'.

It can, in addition to the usual definitions, mean 'a group of civilians organised in a military fashion, especially to operate in place of or assist regular army troops' or 'noting or pertaining to an organisation operating as, in place of, or as a supplement to a regular military force: a paramilitary police unit.'

It may be a genuine question but you are a knob
You don't even know me, leave it out ffs. This is a perfectly fine question, if you want to be a keyboard warrior and don't have a clue how to answer the question, then don't post ffs.

We already have paramilitary police units: CO19, the TSG(although they are not routinely armed)as well as MoD Plod and the Civil Nuclear Constabulary.

We do not have seperate paramilitary forces, like the French CRS.

You did it in the passport thread, so why do you take offense at it being done to your thread?

Thank you Werewolf. It's nice to know someone can answer a question like an adult.
You're welcome. :)

For future referance, you may wish to phrase such questions in more detail. For most soldiers, the word "paramilitary" on it's own has connections to Republican and Loyalist terrorists.

Asking if Britain has paramilitary police or security forces might have recieved a more measured response.

Just a thought.

Posted without being the least bit helpful. Some shite about getting your name changed. The usual dullardry that I have come to expect from you to be honest.

Changed your name then changed it back again because you didn't like the new one. I belived you were being sarcastic and trying to annoy people. I apologise if that is not the case but it is hardly the most beliveable story. I still think you are a dullard though.
