After the murder of a sentry outside the Canadian Parliament by a lone-wolf gunman, Whitehall in fear of similar attacks on British soldiers, have withdrawn the guards from there prolific sentry posts outside St. James's and other Royal residences to behind fences and locked gates.

Furthermore they are now monitored by armed police officers as the guards themselves carry no ammunition. Do you think it can be seen that these iconic soldiers in there red tunics and bearskins who have been a symbol of the monarchy's safety and security since the days of Charles II are on the retreat from terrorism as stated by former Scots Guards officer Major Iain Dalzel-Job or that the precautions taken by the MoD are entirely justifiable under the circumstances?

Prolific sentry boxes? What are they, then?

They'd probably feel safest if they knew the RAF Regt had their backs I'm guessing.....
