Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi,

I am an officer cadet at Sandhurst and I have just been binned by the Paras as I 'dont fit'.
Dont have a clue who Im gonna join but I'm 100% infantry.
I was also looking at the duke of lancasters regiment so if anyones got any experience or advice, officer or soldier, currently serving or retired it would be appreciated.

  2. Yorkshire Regiment, know some good lads there, busy lads as well ! 1 Rifles, again, busy and get about a bit, or you could always go on the CP's at the 'Chestnut Troop' Royal Horse Artillery ! If only to watch your civvy mates faces when you tell them who your part of ! :D
  3. Join the Rifles. Think of it this way:

number of battalions + number of roles + op tour opportunities = career diversity + interest
  4. Be a man, join the rifles!
    1st Battalion (Commando Role)
    2nd Battalion (Ballykinler Pornstars)
    3rd Battalion (Stavs)
    4th Battalion (War Gods)
    5th Battalion (Deuich Pissheads)

    You just can't go wrong!

Real soldiers wear green jackets... x
  5. I would strongly recommend doing plenty of research/homework on this choice before you make your mind up, ask friends & collegues for recommendations,

    Lastly good luck
  6. Am still in depot (pass out in 6 weeks) but, i would say Rifles!
  7. I cannot comment upon the DoL themselves, but bear in mind that Lancashire lasses are dog rough.
And that's from a proud Lancastrian.
  9. It's a shame they let them back into the community so soon, isn't it?
  10. suggest transferring my tag to this idiot.

I'm not too hot on what the situation is, but will you have the chance to do any fam visits or anything?

You don't say where you are from - that might have a bearing if you want to serve in your 'regional' regiment.
  12. I'm starting to get the awful impression that 'English County' Regiments tend to be the second choice for Officer Cadets, who would rather join Regiments more, as they may deem, exotic, if I dare use such a word?
  13. And thats from your experience how ? Get through training first f*ckstick and then pop back in and give us your vested opinion. :?
