Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Why is this the only Lewis Collins film that actually gets any regular showing? Ex TA/SAS as he is, could it have been bettered
  2. Yeah, they could have stuck to the story in the book where they're kept in the pool, not the dining room and shot there! guess it would have been too cold for the old gits!

BTW, he was 4 PARA, couldn't join 'them' as his face was too well know (stand to be corrected on the 'them' bit!)!
  3. no, he passed sas selection but was turned down because he was known. you watch the professionals, he actually fired live ammo
  4. Or was it 10 PARA? Either way, he was TA PARA before not getting into 'them' (some say he faild selection, he says only his face failed selection because it was too well know!).
  5. no he passed, but wasnt allowed to join for his face
  6. And you know this how as an RLC TA PTE?

Just to make you feel old Lewis Collins is 61 now
He also turned down the chance to replace Pete Best as the drummer in the Beatles (He new McCartney before they were famous)
  8. am fan of professionals
  9. Oh, so you weren't on selection with him?

Let me put it like this to you; if they thought there was even the slightest chance of him passing, knowing that they wouldn't take him, do you think they would waste their time training him and taking up a place?

Like I say, some say he failed selection, though the man himself says only his face failed selection!
  10. he was getting famous as the selection progreessed. tv shows he filmed were getting broadcast, he became known

are luvvies allowed to join TA ANYWAY
  11. Lewis did! He joined 10 PARA IIRC to get in shape and prep for the role of Bodie.
  12. it wasnt prep, he wanted to be sas
  13. Yeah, he was dead 'ard. He was a frikin hairdresser ffs.

    10 Para but failed SAS(R).

Who Dares Wins is a good flick if only for it being rather cheesy but its still very watchable today.

Much better as Bodie. Still yearn for a Triumph Dolomite Sprint, Ford Capri Mk II 3.0 Ghia, Ford Capri Mark III 3.0S and a Ford Escort Mark II RS2000 on the basis of 'The Professionals'. I still occasionaly slide across my bonnet for effect.

My mate flew one of the Scouts you know.....
  14. Fantasy Death Match - Bodie vs Gene Hunt! 8O

    Place your bets, Gentlemen!
  15. You should have seen Top Gear last night to see what 25 yrs does to a Sprint! I did love them as a kid..... cool ralley car or wot!
