Where can you find segregated buses?

#1
Women sick of sitting in back of segregated buses, file a petition with High Court to change situation.

According to the petitioners, the separation becomes even more enraging when the male section of the bus is almost empty, while the female section is overcrowded. At such times, the petitioners said, the men still prevent women from crossing over to "their side".
Poor women are forced to stand, even when a bus is half-empty.

Where is this quote from? It certainly isn't from the UK as we only segregate mllaaars and negros in the UK. Men don't ride buses in the UK anyway.

Where is this quote from... It would be an answer to the puzzle.

Hints: The segregation was imposed due to religious considerations. The petition was filed by U.S.-born novelist Naomi R. She doesn't want to live in "a Taliban country".

Lordy (scuse pun), I thought the abuse of women was only the reserve of the dirty arabs.

If the yids are at it too, they've just dropped off my respect radar.

Pakistan would be one place - generally chaps sit at one end and ladies at the other, though one can sit next to a wife, spaces permitting.
