When Shearer took over Newcastle, he was a bit puzzled as how to motivate the turnips. Meeting his old friend Sir Alex Ferguson he told him the problem. "Well", say Fergie, "Years ago I had the same problem and I put 11 dustbins around the pitch and told them to get cracking. Now, that worked, because see where we are now". Straight back to St.James' went our Alan and got 11 wheelie bins and put them on the pitch before telling the turnips get stuck in. A few weeks later, Fergie and Shearer met again and Fergie asked the inevitable question. "How's it going, Alan". Shearer shrugged, "Well, I did what you said and we've used the bins for two weeks now, and the bloody wheelies win ever time."
