I was going to nominate Gordon 'Cyclops' Brown, but he's not modern. He harks back to an age that never happened, never worked, but still believed it could with, or without the support of the people.

He's very distasteful and British (only just).

Poor people, the liberalisation of homosexuality. Would Alan Turing have invented Colossus if he had been free to mince around being encouraged to be gay, I don't think so. We could have lost the war.
