What TV show have you just watched

Interesting German drama on BBC 4,54 hours:the Gladbeck crisis.Based on fact,a botched bank robbery is allowed to become a media circus. It shows the polizei having some pretty poor, indesicive leadership.
Edit.
Do any Arrsers that were in Deutschland at the time, remember this?

I had the misfortune of flicking channels last night and came across For Facts Sake, the latest BBC vehicle for that terminally unfunny prick Brendon O’Carroll (Mrs Browns Boys).
What is the Beebs obsession with him? They ban the likes of It Ain’t Half Hot Mum and Benny Hill, due to them being ‘outdated and non-pc’ and yet they give this idiot masses of airtime. Is it because he ticks a few of the diversity boxes (Southern Irish and occasional tranny)?
No doubt some on here get his humour, but I think him and his extended family are dire.

I have a good friend who lives north of the border. He thinks Mrs Brown’s Boys is the funniest thing ever written. I’ve tried so hard to try and understand what he and others like so much about it.
I have come to the conclusion that the only reason is a subconscious embracing of the omission of anything English or to do with England.
The bitter, sassenach hating ginger porridge wog.

Netflix horror 'The Haunting of Hill House'.
10 episodes.
Absolutely watchable. Cuts about on timelines throughout the 10 episodes but a real shocker every episode.
I've not had chills and goosebumps like this since I woke up next to Chichesters', Debbie the 'Hump'.

Agreed! That was an awesome series. Best horror themed show I've seen in a long time. And I'm utterly in love with Carla Gugino so that was a bonus..

Combat Dealers S1 Ep8

Bruce heads to a cold war underground bunker that has been converted to a museum. The curator is looking for some Soviet era equipment to tell the other side of the story.

Link to on demand player for UK viewers:

Combat Dealers - S04.E08: Cold War

ETA - As Bruce said, the National Socialists found it relatively easy to adapt to Marxist Socialism in East Germany.

Some rare kit and explosions.

Killing Eve, episodes three to seven. I like it a lot but I have watched far too much television not to see many of the plot twists coming. Sometimes well in advance.

One more episode to go, then it's another year or so before its second season comes out in the U.K., and I am looking forward to it - the script is sharp and witty, the acting is very good, and even with my dubiety about some of its beats, it is well plotted.

I watched the first 2 episodes of this last night. Really enjoyed it. I like the laughs that are inserted in every now and then as well as Villanelle amazing me with her pure psychotic-ness. She is the ultimate danger f*#k. Some great writing there.

Just watching the Tom Clancy derived Ryan thing on Prime.

Must be good as it has attracted the inhouse teenager away from it's computer.

I'm enjoying it too, but I do hate it when these telly types use the professional military/para-military acronyms with no explanation or indication as to what they are on about.

Just watched the first 3 episodes of "Jamestown" and am really enjoying it. Dont know why it took me so long to start it.
I particularly like the fiery red head "Verity" but keep worrying she is going to get herself killed. This particular scene will live with me for a long time;

This new BBC thing, Informer, is bloody good imo, Not least cos Paddy Considine is the lead in it. He's an epic actor & this is full of menace. Later episode has him going full on against a load of racists giving them a right old twatting with a pool cue. All eps on Iplayer so happy days for a binge watch.

Watched episode 1 of 'The Haunting of Hill House'. Not brilliant but pretty ok. Music score works well. Problem is that I ( and my daughter who watched it with me) were comparing it to the original film, the haunting 1963 - Bing video
which was terrifying. Some similar parts in the tv series but obviously vastly different. For the love of Paddington, do not, ever, watch the version in colour with Cathaerine Zeta Jones. Rubbish.

An episode of "Saving Lives At Sea", featuring RNLI crews from Ireland and Great Britain. Some jaw-dropping rescues therein, particularly the saving of three lives on a stricken yacht that was caught out in Hurricane Ophelia with a failed engine, with the crew of the boat from Rosslare in the Republic coming to the rescue in sea states that made me as a viewer say "sod that!"

There was also the rescue of two teenage lads who were plucked from the sea after getting caught out in a rip-tide off of Saint Agnes in Cornwall, with the kicker being that it was the eleven-year-old daughter of one of the lifeboat crew who saw their heads bobbing out of the water as they were being swept out seawards, realised that they were in trouble and raised the alarm.

It's seriously the kind of show that the BBC should be making far more of instead of their steady diet of junkfood soap operas, reality shows and celebrities shittily dancing.

We've watched the whole thing and while it was pretty scary and enjoyable it could easily have been trimmed to half a dozen episodes. Netflix are making some excellent content which is in part due to moving away from the standard US TV format of 20 plus episodes but a lot of stuff could still easily be done in 6-8.

Last night the wife and I sat down at 18:00 to eat supper and I put Informer on - We hated it so much that 6 hours later & still sitting in the dark we finished the last episode. Gets 5/5 arrse bums from us.
