What TV show have you just watched

Same, Mums Dad was with 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusilers. Went through Sicily and up to Monte Cassino, where he was wounded and casivaced to Malta.
He never talked either, every now and then and again always in May, he'd go down to bottom of garden and stare into the distance.
He was still with us, after I'd left the mob. But out of respect, never asked.
I do remember one thing I couldn't understand when I was a kid, but fully understand now. I had an Actionman as a kid, and had a British and German uniform for it, the Jerry uniform wasn't allowed in their house.
There is the headstone of a young Sergeant in our small village cemetery, killed in Italy only a few days before the war ended - he had also served in the Irish Brigade (Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers), despite coming from rural Lincolnshire.

Mums Dad came from Stratford London.

I've just finished Project Blue Book season 1 on DVD. Utter tripe. They've transformed Allen Hyneck into some kind of X Files-esque action sleuth instead of the academic he really was. A shame really.

Been watching Bodies on iPlayer. Written by Jed Mercurio of Line of Duty fame, it was first shown about 15-16 years ago. It features Max Beesley, Patrick Baladi, and Keith Allen as Obs & gynae surgeons in a northern hospital.
However it is extremely graphic, sex and surgery scenes, so not for watching on the train on an ipad.
Thank you for the heads up on Bodies.....started binge watching it yesterday and now on series 2 episode 2. Bloody brilliant!!

Don’t know if it’s already been mentioned but the world according to Vladimir Putin shows just how bizarre Russian media is

On History2 World War ll: The Air War. US documentary. Two hours.
Seen through the eyes of four Airmen serving with the mighty 8th Airforce. Using colour film through out, one fighter pilot and two bomber crewmen and a Stars and Strips combat reporter.
One part is quite heart rending, a ball gunner is stuck in his turret with no way out. His aircraft has no hydrolic's and is forced to belly land.
8 out of 10.

Thats horrendous........how would the pilot ever get over something like that?

My grandfather had the same story, only he was a dispatch rider, fought at monte casino and would never talk about the war, “how many Germans did you kill grandad?” The look in his eyes, I understand now, I only wish I could have a pint with him and my dad about how shit it is.
A couple of years before my dad died we had a chat and discussed our respective wars and discovered how much we had in common after all. I can't remember what sparked it off but I wished we'd done it years earlier

Ash v the evil dead on Netflix. Very funny, very very gory and it's got Lucy 'her of the unseen fame' Lawless as some sort of evil bounty hunter. Bite size slices of fun to while away a spare 30 mins.

Watching it pretty much back to back, hard to put it down.

Thanks for highlighting this. I’ve found it on YouTube & just watched it. 90 mins now, minus the vast amount of US ads.
That ball gunner section was quite harrowing.

It was a cracking series.
I don't know why we don't see more of Max Beesley, a top Mancunian actor with a lot of potential in his natural habit in't norf.

The Watchmen.
I am struggling with it.I saw the film and got the gist of that. However the tv show is a tough watch.I assume it was a comic and bringing that to the screens a challenge.Anyway I'll try one more then probably give up.

Totally agree with @Northern_Biff , was looking forward but somehow a comic book story about a rift between superheros has evolved into a lot of pc bolleaux

I actively avoid any 'drama' series on BBC or others cause they are normally PC rubbish and have had Netflix and Amazon for about 6 years. For the last year or two, I have been watching the Korean and Russian stuff. Really surprised by the Russian offerings, good camera work and storylines, always helped by the visual offerings! The Korean stuff is normally based around a political / familial struggle and goes on for 6 episodes more than it should have, maybe the Koreans are a really deep people or I'm just mince!
Anyway, my recommendations are these -
Russian
The Method- Detective thingie
Sniffer - wierd detective thingie about a bloke who sniffs?
Better than us - odd programme about androids

Finnish
Border town

Korean
K2 etc
