Be prepared for 12 weeks of hard work. Bite the bullet, put up with the BS and enjoy it. It is one of those times which you hate at the time but look back at and laugh. Remember to pack your sense of humour. Good luck.

Like Plant life said, be prepared for lots of hard work, search for some of the other forums which other potential recruits have asked for advice.

The one i will give you is God gave you 2 ears and 1 mouth, use them in that order.

Welcome to the Corps, this is your new family now.

Great choice to be a Sparky, i think it is one of the best trades in the Corps, but remember it is a difficult course to pass.

Sparky

If you want to do courses like para or commando you apply whilst doing your class 3 combat engineer training at Gibralter Barracks. As for other things such as armoured engineer, EOD or amphibious it is luck of posting really. You can request to be posted to the said units but if you get what you want is a different matter. Once you have passed your class 3 combat engineer training you can apply for you RE diver course regardless of what unit you are in apart from 1 RSME when you are doing you trade training. Hope this helps.

When you are on your B3 PLEASE dont cry and use the boxes to tell tails, Gib is the only place to have them so remember "Suck it up buttercup" or else it really will be a shame. To many billys worry about how to tell on the instructors, IF and thats a big IF it is proper bullying then speak to another fullscrew first but on the whole remember "Engage brain, pause then open mouth"

I strart at Lichfield on the 29th of this month, so if I wanna go for 59 Independent Commando Squadron RE, I apply during the combat engineer training? Does that mean that I will then go on to do my trade training and then go straight into the Pre All Arms Commando Course? Because I'm going to need all the time that I'm training to bulk up for it!

Can you apply later on in your career? Or does that hinder your chances?

Cheers

There are a few threads on this within the forum.

Calm yourself down a little bit, the earliest you can apply is during the combat engineer training.

You can apply before, after or during your trade training, you can apply later in your career.

Hinder your chances. I believe the only thing which could stop your application might be an imminent Operational tour.

If you bulk up too much you might not get the rollmats on your arms :D
