What now for the EU ?

Just flicked through the actual Constitutional Court judgment and pretty much the final paragraph does the damage, para 235 .....

No wonder it is not being widely reported.
Nothing from these people either
When I read @exbluejob 's Post #3889 at about 0815 I did my usual check on my many Bookmarked News sites including UK and European to get additional info / interpretation / ramifications ... none apart from the Daily Express had reported on this judgement ... the silence would seem to be " athunderous " .

That was a NATO operation which did not gain the approval of the UN Security Council.
I recall years ago, watching an interview with General Jackson who used Op Agricola as a comparison with Iraq - one was an illegal (in the sense it didn't have approval) and one wasn't - but not in the direction most immediately think.

May have forgotten the subtle aspects of his point, but that was the general gist.

It almost seems like you're suggesting that the MSM have an agenda to keep any bad EU news hidden..........

I only stumbled over the report because it popped up in a newsfeed and I thought hhhhmmmm interesting!

I think the French excuse was that the alledged asylum seekers refused to be picked up by the French boats, and threatened to jump in the sea with any women or kids onboard. Therefore la belle France had a duty of care to escort them to make sure that they didn't come to any harm until the perfidious English picked them up.
Erm Point of order, at the point at which they leave France they haven't claimed Asylum, they are therefore not Asylum seekers and hence the word alleged is perfectly apt. Of course in the same sense for the French to assiduously ignore their responsibilities by permitting their country to be used as a means of access to ours is of course collaboration with criminal activity. And we all know how the French deal with des collaborateur don't we...... :x .
France the country of convenience and a public one at that. En avant, a la Pissior.

The English version is here for anyone interested.

Full court of 8 justices involved, voting was 7 to 1 in favour of the decision, and the judgment was handed down on 5/5 with the Bundesbank having 3 months to sort themselves out.
That has expired obviously.
The Bundesbank may now no longer take part in this bond buying scheme, but the most interesting bit was that they now have to sell any bonds already purchased and held in the Bundesbank portfolio.
They have to form a strategy to do so with there european central banks.
Who on earth is going to buy these bonds from the Bundesbank, and at what price?

No wonder it is not being widely reported.

They had till yesterday to respond, but (thinking about it), the court is going to have to consider if the response addresses it concerns about the ECB/ECJ acting ultra vires.

So we could be looking at another couple of months before the judgement is handled down.

And I'll bet the judges are under immense covert pressure to reverse their decision.

Its the EU and the assumption by the media, is that some dodgy backroom deal will be finagled to outflank the court. What is worse, the media never seem particularly bothered about the undemocratic processes involved to undermine democracy.

On another point, god only knows why were so concerned about the fishing rights, because I'm absolutely certain if we leave on no deal, the french and others will simply plunder our shores anyway and we will send a boat out to make faces at them. If we end up on no deal, we should appoint an icelandic defence chief to sort out fisheries protection.

And I'll bet the judges are under immense covert pressure to reverse their decision.
Of that there is no doubt.

However, when there were 9 in the decision making process. Which resulted in an 8 - 1 majority, it becomes very difficult, overtly or covertly to overturn that decision.

I'm pretty convinced that this is the Germans looking for an exit strategy when it all goes tits up. They do not want to be on the hook for bailing out the French and Italian banking sectors.
If the judgement goes against the EU, I wonder if EU laws allows individual states to make state to state loans? Germany, being cash rich, could do that.

German state loans would be senior debt, to be paid back by the receiving state - which means (presumably) Germany would get its money back if the receiving state's banking system went to rat $hit. And I'll give good odds it would be lent with multiple strings attached.

Euro still being propped up, but German money safer...

Top tip

Never ever buy a 2 gallon flagon, smuggle it back to blighty in the cabin of a LCL then expect to make decent brandy sours in the UK.

Like many things it just does not work.
Buy a 2 gallon flagon of 12 year old brandy take it home and put it in your girlfriends bedroom, forget about it until you've been married for 15 years, wow!
