What now for the EU ?

Ah, I see. Fine the Poles then bribe them with the money raised by fines. Allies klar! :)
Not quite. Announce fines for non-compliance, wait to see if other countries object, if they do, cancel the fines and offer a bribe instead.

If you look at how the EU reacted to the German migrant crisis, if tried fo grab more powers, fine any country who objected, then after the pushback, the EU offered sweeteners.

Brexit negotiations showed a similar process: start with threats, those didn’t work, so the EU then became more realistic.

The Sausage war? Absolute position with threats, push back, compromise.

The French fisherman and access to British waters? It start with threats and absolutes, then rapidly softened when the rest of the EU decided to not push for decisive action. A compromise will be found.

The EU always starts with threats.

Yes, but there is someone determined to get this thread shut down, just like some other ones.

I did post a bit about how the EU are fining Poland One Million euros a day just for defying them. Kinda got lost in the clutter.
The EU can only bully, they are just like the Mafia. It's a tinpot dictatorship organisation and we will see more countries leaving it, and other countries looking on at how they have treated their own members and not wanting to join.
Eventually other countries that leave like we have will end up doing deals with the UK and we can form our own pacts with those, much like we have with Australia/New Zealand etc.

Here's some of the trade deals done with NON-EU countries since we left:

Now we have the likes of BL still bitching, but has he gone to live in the EU yet? NO, he just likes to whine or seek attention much like a 7 year old girl or tranny does.

The EU Commission, having failed to bring Poland to heel, are now fining them €1million a day over this. Can't beat them, drain their treasury! They have form for doing this

The thing about this is, Germany did the same thing with their courts and said they overrule EU rule, is Germany also being fined the same amount per day?

I’m taking the piss. Tin foil and paranoia are funny.

This wasn't.

Hardly worth getting out of bed for.

This was you arrogantly looking down your nose from the lofty hights you feel you inhabit and sneering at the minions.

I would have thought after your recent unfortunate event you would have had a bit more solidarity with those minions, the ones that drag their sorry arrse out of bed for sums less than you would countenance.

You know the types, the carers, the nurses, the specialist supporters, need I go on?

I know I was eternally grateful when in the same position 20 years ago and sneer, I did not and do not.

That was a wretched comment that belittles you...

No, that is not happening yet and will not happen any time soon. The big difference with Poland is that our governments, the current acting government and also the future one, are EU-friendly. For them, the judgements handed down by the Federal Constitutional Court, the Maastricht judgement in 1993 and the more recent one on "debt union", are of course extremely embarrassing. Everyone knows that this 500-pound gorilla is sitting there but everyone pretends that he is not there. Sooner or later there will be a real stink about EU legislation and then we'll see how the government wriggles out of even a somewhat unfriendly court ruling.

Besides, Germany is still needed for the coming debt union. Somebody has to pay for Club Med and now that you nasty little Englanders have ruined the submarine deal for the poor French and on top of that don't even want to issue fishing licences to French people who have been fishing there for at least 5,000 years, the fun is over.

The French seem a bit annoyed:
- Your trawlers and fishing boats should no longer be allowed to dock in certain French ports
- France will systematically check the safety of your boats.
- Lorries going from France to the UK and back will also be subject to stricter controls. Ok, that probably increases the chance of them preventing a few more illegal immigrants from coming to you, doesn't it?
- Of course, the French want to think about further measures in a calm and not at all pissed off way, they'll probably send you naked photos of Macron's elderly dog.
- Oh, they'll probably cut off your electricity in the Channel Islands too.

I wouldn't mind some naked photos of Macron's geriatric wife - I'd distribute them round the old folks home so the old dudes could have a shifty.
As for the channel islands - they have got their own power stations, they can just turn them back on (La Collette Power Station and Queen's Road) so I doubt they are that arsed as to what the French do.
Still it's the EU trying to bully again - and these were supposed to be our allies, with friends like these we are better without them, which is why we left the EU as we brexiteers knew we were only being used as a cash cow for the EU.
I hope Poland and Greece leave the EU - they will be better off out of it, but first they should get as much money from the EU as they can and then not pay anything back when they leave.

Shouldn't this be in the 'Another Teacher at it' thread?

I am not sure where to register my disappointment, but you know that this thread has been derailed when this little beauty hasn't been waved for a while, so in the interests of nuance, I give you:

Having watched Euronews last night , it strikes me that the EU is now in a credibility crisis which must now win. The ECJ has been battered by it’s recent criticism but if Poland says “Stuff you” in respect of the fine just what can the EU do? It is a major bulwark against the Russians and a vital link in Visegrad area.
However with the major turn in Policy by France towards us in regards to their actions it seems the EU has decided to have a war on two fronts.

I don’t actually have problem regarding the arrest of a trawler fishing without proper permits. Skip takes the risk. However it is rather strange how the French can have resources to deal with that but not deal with migration issues. This would tend to make me think that Macron’s or else or else policy, which should rightly go to WTO, is an escalation.
In respect of the migrant issue on the Polish border, I rather felt like throwing a hammer at the tele, listening to the Vapid nonsense talked. They’re forgetting that provocation from Belarus is precisely that. Provocation. It’s no good expecting the Poles to sit back and allow it whist it puts nonexistent pressure on Belarus, when Frontex was set up with the prospect of being the EUropean border protection service, remember this 13 years ago and still MS are expected to comply with laws that can’t/ won’t be enforced. What Poland is doing may be against the Laws of the EU, but the EU can’t back it.

The VDL creature reminds me of that small blonde singer whose name I forget who was in the musical whose name I forget and played Eva Peron and it seems so appropriate.

Madonna?

My car hasn’t been burnt out yet either. I assume that is down to Brexit causing problems when importing accelerants from Europe.
