So that's a no then, you can't find anywhere that Jones says he's a journalist?
For goodness sake, don't ruin another good thread. If you have a issue with BL do it privately by PM and leave us in peace.

As it was me that started the ‘he’s not a journalist’ thing I’ll just add that it’s my opinion that he’s not a journalist in that he doesn’t do what I believe a journalist should do.

I suspect those who are insisting that he is a journalist know what I meant and are not really arguing with opinion of him but are getting bent out of shape over a definition.

Just to make them happy I’ll accept that he is a journalist - an utterly crap one.

He is also a troll.

Jones (in his defence) doesn't call himself a journalist, I suspect the majority of those saying he is are the ones who regularly read the Guardian shite from him and the other columnists I mentioned earlier.

The EU Commission, having failed to bring Poland to heel, are now fining them €1million a day over this. Can't beat them, drain their treasury! They have form for doing this

A cock-up. It's what you voted for.

Enjoy

Are you talking about a Brexit-related cock-up? It’s already happened (e.g. the NI protocol).

Are you talking about a party-related cock-up? We’ve already had those (e.g. Matt Handcock and his assistant).

Maybe a policy cock-up? Again, we’ve already had those (the latest being yesterday’s sewage vote).

A personal cock-up from the PM? Again, already happened (the latest being the “recycling is useless” answer).

Or are you thinking about anything else? Something really really big? Oh, wait… Covid…
.
I believe that if we wait another 4 billion years or so, the Earth will be consumed by the sun, and Brexit will be proven to have been rather pointless. Is that the sort of thing you’re waiting for?

You’re going to need to be a little more specific old chap

The EU never learn.

This won't end well for them.

Maybe he's an associate member.

A journalist does news, he doesn't, he does opinions (which change depending on the Guardians view).
In the argot of the newsroom, journalists (aka ‘hacks’) seek out and follow up on news items; correspondents do the same but for their specialised role. Both report (for the most part) to the Home and Foreign News Editors. These two also oversee the political news side of things.
Then there’a the Features Editor who oversees the feature writers and the columnists. Columnists are not required to find news or follow it up, but to provide a number of words per day or week, on a subject of their, or Ye Ed’s, choice and to give their opinions

Are there any fellow eccentrics out there who want to discuss what now for the EU on this thread?

Would that be the ozone-depleting environment-destroying food-mile heavy, carbon-spewing Peruvian asparagus?

Surely a shortage of out-of-season veg is a good thing?

Really? It's tastes like shit.
Naturally I wouldn't get out of bed for such low wages.

Yes, but there is someone determined to get this thread shut down, just like some other ones.

I did post a bit about how the EU are fining Poland One Million euros a day just for defying them. Kinda got lost in the clutter.

I think what this thread shows is that being outside the EU doesn’t result in a country falling into an abyss.

I did notice the article you posted about Poland being fined €1m a day for defying Brussels, but we’ve sort of been here before, with Brussels threatening €millions fines when other countries refused to bail Germany out when Germany (for domestic German political motives) opened its borders and then made the resulting German created migrant problem an EU-wide problem. Brussels’s initial approach was to try to impose huge fines on any country who felt that who lives in a country should be decided by thatcountry.

After a few months of threats, Brussels backed down and offered bribes instead.

I suspect the same will happen this time, with Brussels offering some sort of pay-off to get the Poles to comply.

Ah, I see. Fine the Poles then bribe them with the money raised by fines. Allies klar! :)
