Thornbellies spokesperson for the remaniacs gets told to do one (politely):

Le Figaro refers to it as a Coup de Trafalgar dans le Pacifique pour la diplomatie française. I like that.
They are really annoying, whiny little pubescent girls. Someone should send Macron a pack of tampons and a little pink dress to his presidential palace.

I'm not a politician. But has Labour not realised that Brexit doesn't exist any longer. What we have is the UK and the EU. That's not Brexit. Brexited maybe. But clinging on to that euphemism for independence is wearing. So, get behind the UK and instead of whining about history show how you can make this work better than the people two sword lengths away from you. Yes it might make sense to the Grauniad readers etc etc, but in terms of swinging a GE fugeddaboutit. And that mask should be compulsory for her.

Can you translate for us non French speakers?
Go fcuk yourselves, you fcuking French tw*ts, I believe if my schoolboy French is correct.....

on products imported from the UK under new EU regulations which treat all items bought from the UK as "imports".
Yep appreciate that, of course it isn't new, it's that we are new to it and they are new to the implications. One could of course thank CMD for falling for Junckers ruse.

Is that the same Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte that said we were too small on our own and we would collapse without the backing of the EU?

Perhaps we should offer to supply submarines and possibility a stealth bus of nurses* but no more.

*More chance of tracking the submarine than a bus full of nurses

Hot, salt tears and snot bubbles! France cries 'Foul':

At the risk of being contrarian, this looks like a poor move. Sure enjoy the French discomfiture in the great English tradition. BUT

France has genuine interests in the area, not merely a desire to be seen as Global. New Caledonia is a French Overseas territory whose 250k inhabitants rejected two independence referenda in the last five years. Its a more populated version of the Falklands and its inhabitants are EU Citizens. Pissing off a significant nuclear armed military power with a stake in the region doesn't seem a great way to build an alliance against the Chinese.

Despite BREXIT France is our closest neighbour. The French have been an important ally for the last 120 years, the best armed of the European powers and a partner of choice for joint acitivies outside the NATO Alliance.

Slapping them in the face is fun for the Europhobes who currently run the country, but not in Britian's best interest.

Funnily enough, so has the UK.

(Long term) UK-France military co-operation is generally not affected by the spats of (temporary) politics. It carried on throughout Brexit for instance.

I don't think anyone is slapping the French in the face, the reality is France is trying to (diplomatically) slap both the US and Australia.

And what has France ever done to piss us off?

That's right, nothing.

Ever our best friends.

Have to disagree there, the French always do what's good for the French, and sod allies.
Allies are supposed to be people with the same broad aims, not people who'll turncoat whenever it suits them.
