What now for the EU ?

er no, EU trawlers collapsed the local fishing industry.

unemployed fishermen + boats + passing EUropean ships = new employment opportunity
well a bit of give and take here. They are not and never have been all goody gumdrops fishermen for ever and a day. Piracy has always been in the books. However the fishing has been sustainable, it no longer is. Some have found that the potential money can offer a way out, if they survive. On the other hand they can always depend on some Quango lifting them out of the oggin and taking them to Euroland..Oh Wait...

piracy was always an occasional activity of opportunity, EU trawlers hoovering up all the fish made it the only employment opportunity.

Much jumping up by pro EU types saying the UK has the mechanism to block Covid 19 exports, ask them for examples and its all quiet on the western front. Italy with the EUs consent has done it and some are beginning to realise the implications.

Jens Spahn, the German health minister, expressed caution over the long-term impact on global vaccine supplies after Italy’s move to reject the onward movement of doses, with the European commission’s backing.

Responding to suggestions from Von der Leyen and others that the UK has an export ban in place, a UK government spokesman said on Friday: “References to a UK export ban on vaccines are completely false. The UK government has not blocked the export of a single Covid vaccine … We have not put restrictions on exports of Covid-19 vaccines, or any medicines that have been manufactured and are intended for markets abroad.”

So a German moron lies again ? What a surprise.

Europe really does seem to be led by spiteful incompetents. Im braced for a lot more distractionary spite before it gets better though.
Remember , for a lot of these second rankers this is starting to smell like a career limiter and they are panicking. I expect a lot more irrationality from them in the coming summer.

Not according to this. Carry on normal jogging by the look of things.

So far, UK has inked post-Brexit trade deals with 13 African countries. But these new agreements, which offer duty-free and quota-free access to British markets, aren't much different to the old ones. That's because they are primarily so-called rollover agreements — that is, they simply transfer the conditions in the EU deals into bilateral agreements between the UK and the African nation, or blocs.
Of course, regardless of any 'roll over' deal, we will no longer have to pay the mafEU a cut of anything we buy outside of the EU so it should be cheaper.
Something remainers always brush over was the % cut we had to pay the MafEU for buying anything we couldn't source within the claque.

If we had not had Covid 19 then I suspect that the incompetence of the EU leadership and others would either have been not obvious or without further problems. As it is they appear to be doing the dance of the headless chicken, clueless and helpless.

The problem is that tackling those on the boats themselves is not going to stop it. Attention has to be focused on the human trafficking OCGs.
Whilst focussing attention of the human trafficking OCGs is admirable . . . (what is an OCG ?!) . . . it only addresses a symptom of the problem!

Focussing attention of the human traffickers, is merely a distraction, a "displacement activity", diverting attention from the root-cause of the problem . . . .

The cause of the problem, is those who VOLUNTARILY wish to cross the Sahara desert, the Mediterranean sea, mainland Europe, and sit waiting on the beach at Calais (other migrant routes are available).

No-one is forcing or cajoling them to embark upon that journey, at gun-point or by any other means of persuasion. They are not man-handled into the dinghies.

It is only the lack of robust action . . . often the acquiescence of various governments along the way, INCLUDING THAT OF THE UK . . . that positively ENCOURAGES migration.

OCG Organised Crime Group.

See "The EU" for details.

If those caught landing on UK shores were immediately returned from whence they came, the considerable effort, risk and financial cost would be less viable.

Going back to square one on the same day you hit the jackpot, minus the cash paid to traffickers, would be quite a blow.

As it is, the risk and cost is well worth the gamble.

Many hearts bleed for the 'poor' unfortunate males of fighting age who make it to UK and suffer the deprivations of hotel accommodation, but who's giving a thought to the women and children who can't afford to pay the traffickers to get into the safety of Europe, never mind be able to cross an entire safe continent to a small island where conditions are more agreeable?

Not entirely, which is why the EU were so eager to explicitly link the trade deal into the broader Withdrawal Agreement.

Thus, countervailing measures can be in the form of trade sanctions.
Serious question.
given the stirrings from Norn Iron, and the EU s aparrent insistance to keep weaponising the issue. If Bruxelles goes the trade sanction route, could you see the govt here saying bollox then let’s just go wto .?

My preferred options.
1. Hand the North back to the South.
2. Go WTO.
Alternatively,

Fully devolve UK domestic matters equally to the FOUR constituent parts - including England - leaving the UK as a Federal common foreign, defence and security umbrella, then invite the Republic to join as a fifth member state.

That thought brightened my day considerably. Thank you.

You're assuming tha copies of an offical vaccine blank haven't already hit the streets.
I would like to think that there will be a database or point of reference in the UK to check against.
The likes of P+O or Ryanair aren't going to let you on board only to bring you back again at their expense if you get bounced at the other end.
Much like passports and visas at present.
It should be interesting for them, we are already seeing headlines about employment law and 'no jab-no job.'
My money is not on the Polacks this time, another benefit of the UK being an island.
