What is Junior Brecon?

Discussion in 'Army Reserve' started by McTezzy1, Oct 24, 2011.

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. What is junior brecon. I keep hearing it mentioned but have no idea what it is. Who runs the course, what is it for and what does it qualify you to do in the TA?

  2. Section Commanders (Cpl) course, Infantry, yes TA do it too.

  3. Use the search function top right or ask your staff at the TAC. It's been rolled into one with the Seniors and Platoon Commanders I think.

  4. Junior Brecon?

It's the same as senior Brecon but for juniors.

    Hope that helps.

  5. I tried the search function and it gave me nothing about it. Although I am new here, so could be confused. Have asked some staff at my TAC but they don't seem to know much. They only talk about PNCO, JCLM and SCLM.

Perhaps because your unit is not Infantry? Junior Brecon is the infantry section commanders course, run at the School of Infantry, Brecon.

Other arms and services do not routinely attend the course (caveats apply, some exceptions etc).

  7. But if you do it in your infantry unit and then transfer, would it come across with you?

Yes, you will still be a qualified infantry section commander, which would obviously be **** all use if you transferred to be a chef.

  13. So if I did it then went to a RE unit, would it still be of use?

    Of course!

Day 2 of SCBC covers bridge building, day 3 counter mobility ops, day 4 minefield laying etc.
