Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi,
can anyone tell me what an sf medic is,what they do and how you can go about becoming one?
I'm a civilian paramedic and looking at joining up,thanks.
  2. They are Special Forces soldiers, with a medic qualification.

To be one, 3 simple (but not all easy) steps:

Join up, become a really, really tough and excellent soldier.

Apply for and pass special forces (as in SAS) selection.

Get selected to be trained as a medic.

    99.9999% need not apply.

To find out abuit them, read any book about SAS selection, training and operations.
  3. Or, you can join up as an RAMC medic
Do really well and pass Ex Black Serpent, and join Med Troop, or ask for a posting to MSU (Med Support Unit). They are the medics attached to the SAS
  4. surprisingly, not just an army thing anymore. black serpant is tri service and will take on paramedics from the RAF. still, can't see many making the grade so to be fair still going to be army led. black serpant is not an easy way in though, just easier than selection.
  5. Alternatively, you could join the RN (No £100k interviews promised though) as a Medic and go do your All Arms Commando Course and have an equally fulfilling career attached to 3 Cdo.
  6. Excellent post jack

You also get to go to poole and do good stuff (and not be a cmt, which is alway a bonus)
  7. Check your PMs
  8. can't tell ya, its a secret, shhhhhhhhhhhh
  9. Patrol Medics course at the International LRRP School in Pfullendorf Germany?
  10. if youre gonna do Black Serpent - best you do it before Mar 08!
