The City of Life and Death - Watched it last night on Netflix.

Filmed in black and white it is the story of the Japanese taking of Nankin. Shown from both sides it depicts the suffering and atrocities perpetrated by the Japanese on the inhabitants of Nankin during six weeks from Dec 9th 1937.

Agree with some the posts about The Irishman. If you haven't seen Goodfellas and Casino you might enjoy it but other wise it seems pretty standard fare. Pacino seems to make his money from doing long speechs nowadays, but to be fare he has got a very captivating voise.

Watch "The Guard" instead
Now that is a great film. Anyone who knows anything at all about the Gardai will get it, and John McDonagh makes very funny films. I love the scene in it where They are sat in Eddie Rockets discussing the Ode to Billie Joe. Great film, great casting, great humour. If you like that, watch war on everyone. Even better.....

Firstly, I'm pretty sure that you don't get a shower of orange sparks whenever a round hits a mud wall
Squibs, gunfire simulators, but meant for apparent hard metal surfaces. Less health and safety risk assessment paperwork for the FX guy than the ones producing dust and shrapnel.

Watched the last half of "Rocky IV" - and I quite enjoyed it. It is overblown, cheesy, uber-patriotic, cornball and very predictable, and absolutely nothing about that lot matters.

Probably the best in the franchise bar Rocky Balboa.

Somehow ended up seeing the new Charlie’s Angels last night.

Whatever you do, don’t. Just don’t.
It was only worth watching as a TV show for Cheryl Ladd in the 80s.

Watch "The Guard" instead
I first saw The Guard in a community cinema, one of those church halls with a projector brought in. Sound was awful and the heavy Irish accents I did not pick all (much) of it up, but it struck a chord so I ordered the DVD when I golt home and watched in the house - excellent movie and goes well with the Gleeson trilogy of The Guard, In Bruges and Calvary - all well worth a watch. Black humour and violence brought together into good watchable stories.

"Angel has Fallen"
I initially thought, meh, another franchise crap movie.
I actually enjoyed it and the backstory with his Dad was good.
A nice bit of shooty killy violence.
Gerard Butler is putting on the timber, hardly any full body shots, trying to disguise hit KFC belly, the fat git.

The Irishman on Netflix.

$159m

3 hours 30 minutes

Not bad but then I may have.......zzzzzz
It went on for a ramble and the 'source' had already been debunked before it was made.
Interesting perspective though, Hoffa possibly having Jack Kennedy topped in order to get Bobby off his case.
"Mr Hoffa, have you anything to say about the assassination of the president?"
"Sure, Bobby's just another attorney now."

'Losers' 2010 Netflix

Ripoff of The A Team (TV series) even worse than the A Team movies, which is saying something

Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the team leader
Idris Alba as , well.... Idris Alba playing Mr T playing Idris Alba
Zoe Saldana, some lying manipulative hotty
Chris Evans, the team computer hacker guy
Columbus Short, the team driver, mechanic, pilot
Oscar Jaenada, team sniper

Jason Patric (remember him from Lost Boys?... well, the acting skills never improved) he plays the Irredeemably Bad Guy

One of those movies where they can get shot painlessly through both knees, hobble for five seconds and be sprinting just a second after that.
The end of the movie was an obvious setup for a sequel..... please God, Noooooo!

I'd like to think that after a 9 year gap that they might have gone off the idea of a sequel.
