What film have you just watched?

Personally, I think the BBC did a better telling of the MQS/Bess spat with Pt1 of their two-part "Gunpowder, Treason and Plot" drama.

Just finished watching the other 1979 gangs of New York classic film, "The Wanderers", starring Ken Wahl (of Porky's fame), and a scene-stealing turn from Tony Ganios as the giant new recruit to the titular gang, Perry. I'm not sure if it is as good as "The Warriors", but it's probably more realistic in terms of its portrayal of gang culture particularly in the Sixties.

The 12th man. English sub-titles, but wow, what a brilliant film! The true story of a Norwegian SOE operative's epic E&E across occupied Norway whilst being pursued by a ruthless Nazi hunter force.

Danger One. Hapless ambulance crew pull dying cartel money-man from car wreck, discover oodles of cash on his soon-to-be-corpse, get a visit from the emperor. Homicidal chaos ensues.

Made me laugh, anyway. And there's some muy caliente eye candy for the old farts, too.

Mortal Engines, rather quirky but watchable.

Saturday night, 'Pale Rider' one of Mr Eastwood's "Ghost films". Basically a more modern remake of 'Shane' with more action and killing. Previously, I had watched 'High Plains Drifter' and 'Hang 'em High'. Similar themes, but then I knew what to expect. Enjoyable stuff.

And Death followed with him.

Hurricane on Netflix. Well a bit of it

Don't bother

Bit like Das Boot remake: had to bolt on "inclusive", lumpy PC subplots to pander to what somebody thinks the audience should be seeing

A rare weekend at home but not been a good one for films here. Swmbo and daughter picked them. Season of The Witch, ffs, pants. Face/Off, okay for 1997. And Atomic Train; that crap's all right if you've never ever left the house in your life, you know nothing about trains and have no common sense just like everybody in the film. It's amusing watching bellends commit suicide on a bombed up locomotive trundling towards Denver but it's still three hours of pish.

Revenge today, Casino and Goodfellas. Joe Pesci effing and blinding 500 times usually prompts a few Ooooh! matrons and a bit of peace.
