Fellas, looking for some help. Years ago I read a book about an indian prince coming to england during the wars of the Rose's. He is escorted by an egyptian merchant who is also a correspondent to the imperial Chinese court. It sounds odd, but i recall it was a great read.
I think it was written by an MP.

Net is, I cant remember the title.. anyone recognise it from my description?

' Racundra's First Cruise is Arthur Ransome's account of Racundra's maiden voyage, which took place in August and September 1922. The cruise took him from Riga, in Latvia to Helsingfors (Helsinki) in Finland, via the Moon Sound and Reval (Tallinn) in Estonia and back.

His first book on sailing, it was also the first of his titles that achieved such high levels of success.

Although reprinted many times in various editions and formats, Fernhurst Books' hardback edition of the title (2003) was the first to use the original text in its entirety - with the original layout, maps and photographs - and also includes an excellent introduction by Brian Hammett containing a treasure trove of previously unpublished writings, essays and photographs. '
Another fascinating sailing story I can recommend, is Joshua Slocum's tale of his solo circumnavigation of the world :-

Well remembered. It's actually popped up a few times over the years on the thread. I have a well thumbed copy.

I've put PJ O'Rourke's books to the side for a bit, and have picked up Wilkie Collins's "The Woman in White" from 1859 as a change of pace.

Just finished "Men at Arms", which should be on every officers' reading list. An absolute gem.

Shameless plug!

I'm writing a trilogy.

The first novel, 447 pages is now available on Kindle.

It's a cracking wee read and proof read by another ARRSER. I'll spare their blushes and keep the name quiet, unless of course it's rip roaring success, then I'll spill the beans!

Second novel almost complete.

Give it a go, make me famous! Haha!

just downloaded it (kindle unlimited) so you’ll probably earn a couple of pence on my copy - I'll let you know but don’t hold your breath. I have a couple or three queued up ahead of it.

Cheers old boy, massively appreciated.

Feedback is welcome, I don't mind if it's slated, I'd rather have honesty than a couple of girlfriends telling me it's ace, if it isn't.

You know those wanky singers that get ripped a new one on XFactor? Somebody, somewhere, told them they could sing and to go for it!

Cheers again.

Do you get smiting immunity if you give a good review?

I'll give it a go. Though I need to finish my reread of Rescue 194 by Jay O'Donnell first and then I'll give it a go.
