Mike Penning: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what the trained strength of each of the armed forces against requirement was on the latest date for which figures are available, broken down by rank. [16709]

Mr. Ingram: The trained strength against requirement of the UK Regular forces by service and paid rank at 1 July 2005 is given in the following table:
Table is at THIS LINK. Data is tri-service, and listed by NATO rank system.
I heard some where that 100,000 is the break line between a militia and an army...

Of course I could be talking out of my arrse.
from Commons Hansard yesterday 20 Oct, figures now given including regular and volunteer reservists as well as regulars, however from a quick glance I believe they have transposed the number of part-time and full-time (mobilised) reservists in the table Will probably be corrected when they notice it.
