Welsh politics thread

#1
Now that politics in Wales is going to be shaken up for better or for worse with the Momentum takeover of Welsh Labour, and hence takeover of the devolved Welsh Assembly, maybe it's time to start a thread for those of living in the land of dragons

Having had first hand experience of Labour running the NHS (in Wales at least) and nearly dying due to initial misdiagnosis, can we really trust them now Momentum effectively control the Welsh Assembly

Previously it was people I didn't agree with politically, but at least they seemed to take some notice of their constituents

With Momentum's increasing power and involvement in Welsh politics, I fear Wales will become a Venezuela like socialist experiment

Now with a vote for the Welsh Assembly being closer than the 2016 Brexit vote, is it time to call for a people's vote on the very existence of a Welsh Assembly ?

Has Leanne left yet, or has somebody gagged her?!

Adam Price has been Plaid leader since October

The only people I know who vote Plaid, I suspect would vote EDL/BNP if they were English.

Their social media is awash with not very subtle anti English posts

Labour have controlled Wales for 18 years from Westminster. The worst of the worst deal. The future should be Welsh people making decisions for our own country, Brexit will cripple Wales and yet the South where I am from voted in huge numbers to leave the EU.

It's time to unshackle our country and claim independence.

BNP/EDL on what basis is that statement? I vote and am a member of Plaid Cymru? I am a nationalist, not a racist.

Shouldn't the Welsh concentrate on something like discovering fire first?

Because they post anti English racism on their social media, and keep getting told off by other people saying that's racist, and yet they keep doing it

It's a bit like not all members of UKIP are racist....but some definitely are

I have no issue with anyone who is English, its the maggots in the halls of Westminster I have a problem with. Plaid also has anti-Westminster sentiment is it not to be expected? Investment in Wales falls short every year. We are second-class citizens in our own country. You mention independence and everyone looks like a scared cat in the window. The way things are going we will have independence forced upon us by the English, Labour will cling on for grim death.

That's the bit that get's me, all the people I know who vote Plaid are also remainers and bang on about the EU a lot whilst decrying Westminster for not giving them indepedence

It's a bit like Thereasa May's Brexit, demanding independence that would actually give less independence than you already have

I have relatives on Yns Mon, ironically some of my family only moved away to get work and yet they won't speak to them if they were born in England. I think it's funny, it's tragic in a way

Let me get this right, then-'huge numbers' voted to leave the EU and you know that they were wrong to do so?

Claim independence, under the mob rule of Welsh Labour? The same Welsh Labour that has spent 7 years not building a National racing circuit? Circuit of Wales - Wikipedia

CoW is virtually on my doorstep.
Welsh labour....I would rather stick wasps down my japseye and vote for the Nazi party rather than vote Labour.

So the next thought, is devolution worse than either direct rule from Westminster or independence

With devolution what was decided largely by the Barnett formula, now mainly comes through the block grant to the Welsh Assembly

With an aging population, surely the Barnett formula would have meant more income to Wales since 2010, if the grand experiment hadn't happened ?

Some people would pay good money for that!

as a north walian I find this comment ******* hilarious, you do realise that plaid like to think of themselves as the national socialist party of Wales, the last lot who described themselves thus caused quite a stir in Europe.
You might not see how bloody racist Plaid is as you live in the mostly English speaking area of Wales, spend a couple of years up here with the bastards and you might change your tune!

I'm English, living in Wales.
I have the whole welsh thing rammed down my throat in work. Welsh NHS.

Supposed to answer phones bi lingually. Boss asked me why I didn't.

I got into trouble, allegedly my answer of " Because I'm ******* English and I have no desire to talk like a ******* druid" isn't politically correct.
I'm very glad she has a sense of humour though.

Wales isn’t a country. It’s a principality. Big difference.
The Assembly is a total waste of money, money which could be spent on health, police, or even border controls. I don’t know the figures but it must be millions that go to waste running that building and paying the idiots who inhabit it.

Every correspondence from hospitals to the council water bills etc is duplicated in Welsh. Even if you ask for it in English only you still get it in Welsh. Must cost a bloody fortune and in this day and age of waste and recycling you’d think these people would act on this wouldn’t you?
Well that would be to bloody sensible.

I love Wales and now live near the west coast, my address resembles an eye sight test and the funny thing is my nearest neighbours in the village are, like me English.
Compared to the SE of England it’s heaven, so quiet, fresh air doctors appointment when I want not in a weeks time. The nosy thing that gets me down is the weather in the winter but I blame Brexit for that and Welsh Labour so I’m fine really. Last summer a five minute drive and I was on the beach.
Lovely it is boyo. And the sheep keep to themselves.

I wouldn't even mind that waste so much if they could run the hospitals without trying to kill me

My local hospital has been in special measures for years now, and for one example I turned up in casualty going into a diabetic coma

Didn't get seen for over six hours, and even then it was only because my Doris kicked up a fuss we got to the bottom of it

Being Friday night they're used to people being off their face on drink and drugs and just thought I was delusional, so they were going to leave me in a room until the next day and they could get someone along from the Ablett unit

I thought even in Wales diabetes would be easy to spot, especially if you were really going downhill fast

So don’t live and work there. Get a job in England. It’s not as if the NHS is oversubscribed. They’re begging for people to work for them.

But don’t moan because you have voluntarily moved to a place you don’t like amongst a load of people that you hate.
