8O Summer holidays

Hmm, interesting... Would you go here, of your own free will? and with no armed security?
Probably not. Imagine being stuck in a minibus all day with that bledy lot.

I do remember seeing four tourists from Finland who turned up in Afghanistan a couple of years ago to go birdwatching. They were drinking from a bottle of vodka in a brown paper bag - they said they didn't want to offend any Muslims who might be watching by drinking it openly.

A few years ago there used to be a holiday company that specialised in going to trouble spots: Perhaps they managed to get all their clients killed off because I haven't heard of them for ages

Airlines are starting to run scheduled services into Erbil in northern Iraq.

Iraq may still be bad ,but it is far quieter than a couple of years ago.

Mind you,I don't think I will be off there anytime soon.

Good Luck to them, but I think I will pass on that particular package tour.

The Civil Servant would get it though.

I would rather melt my face with an iron than return there on holiday.

Especially whilst there are some areas of the country where only main battle tanks dare move in daylight hours.

Horses for courses.
