Irish American newspaper in British Torture claims?

Well I never

Next Month Martin McGuinnes tells Oirish Central how he spent the missing 20 minutes on Bloody Sunday helping old dears across the road and delivered meals on wheels in his latest segment:

"Para Assasins almost stopped me delivering old ma Mckendry's stew and Mash"

The competion next month offers a $2000 prize to an Irish American who can find a link between the $$$$ you sent to those brave Oirish Freedom Fighters and the Semtex Gaddafi bought for them not including the bit he kept back for German discos and Pan Am flights

$500 bonus if any Irish American can find Ireland on a map of the world

As to Obama bet alot of Americans wish the Brits had finished off the family breeding programe before he was born

Doesn't make a bit of difference if the British used a Car Battery and Jumper cables on Obamas Granpappie or handed him Ice Cream and a Blonde.

Obama's Perception is you did torture his Grandfather, and for him that's enough, evidence be damned. I've been sayinig since the election he hates the Brits and now people are suddenly realizing the Mulatto Messiah isn't Mr. Nice Guy, but a vindictive asshole.

One would have thought the summary and notably unceremonious di(e)spatch of old Winnie's bust back to the UK when He took up residence in the WH would have been a bit of a hint, but then again He did make up for it with the boxed set of HIS favorite DVD films (in US format no less) to the PM. :D I wonder if Coming to America with Eddie Murphy was included?

well if I was the yank president and had no problem with the British, I'd still go out of my way to piss off that brown bastard... (see what I did there?)
Well as a private citizen feel free but not as the president of 300 million people, many of whom were, and continue to be,profoundly embarrassed by His unseemly conduct.

Monty 417:

Absolutely. So we made the prisoners beat each other up with clubs. That's why Obama's head is shaped like a coconut…hereditary club DNA.
I can't improve on that line. Monty 417 cracks me up.  Who knew that life in Kenya before independence was one laff after another. :D

Indeed--- and it got so ever much better after the evil British left them to their own happy culture:

My Dad was out there cira '53 with the East African Rifles in support of his Regt (R Sussex att to the Buffs).

He speaks very highly of an extremly fit WO2 from that regiment who proved himself time & again on patrol.

His name? Idi Amin!

Back on topic-Obama will be out at the first attempt.

"I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of twelve or thirteen, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites." "I found solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race." "To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists."

Thanks for that jjh, as you may have noticed we were discussing this just the other day on this thread:
it appears to us that we have an interesting oppurtunity to investigate these claims in the wider context of colonila rule in Kenya.

We are still a the beginning and I will endeavour to have a preliminary set of aims laid out later today. I would like to take the oppurtunity to invite you join the debate and bring your erudition and inquisitorial skills to the party.

Ah but that's because the evil Brits taught Africans how to be murder and torture each other. Before then the continent was a veritable garden of eden (pre-apple eating).

Rampant check out the BBC Radio Four website for an archived recording of "Saturday Live," from 27 June 2009.

The programme included an interview with Tim Symonds, a former member of the Kenya Police Reserve. He captured an insurgent named Obama on one mission into the jungle. He suspects it was the POTUS's grandfather. Tim was trying to establish whether it was him or not. The name stuck in his mind at the time because it was not a Kikuyu name.

The man is half Kenyan and half Irish... and it surprises anyone that he doesn't like the British?

A true statesman, acting in the country's interest, would not let it cloud his judgement on official relations.

But a narcissistic, self obsessed, Sun-God-Messiah-type chap who personalises everything, on the other hand...

Ta Psy. will do, dug out a load of my old uni stuff relating to Kenya yesterday before I came north for contextual analysis. The info you just provided will prove very useful.

My current line of thinking is to have a discussion thread and bibliographical thread where we keep all the resources and evidence to make them easier to find.

Getting to the truth of the torture story is very important and one of the key drivers of the investigation, but it is, IMO, worthless if we cannot tie it in with the wider history of the period.

Also lines up holidays in Kenya 8)

edited to add; once we get a starting point, it might be an idea to start merging these kndss of threads.

Any other volunteers interested in joining in?

Having read Barries book (someone gave it to me after they had read it),the thing I found breathtaking was the fact that the publishers had allowed the book to be published with so many inaccuracies.

More to the point I'm surprised his political opponents didn't question these inaccuracies after the book was published. Just a couple of points were,Kamiti Prison was never a "High Security" prison just the local Nairobi jail, the chances of a member of the Luo tribe, joining the Mau Mau (a purely Kikuyu organisation),are as likely as a Scotsman drinking Japanese whiskey, and no parcels of fertile land were given to the whites, the land they settled was uninhabited by the locals as it was to high up,hence the White Highlands, and as for his paternal grandmother, just think if the "Brits" had been slightly more ruthless, there might not have been a little Barry in the first place!
