The Speaker is meant to be impartial - Bercow is blatantly pro EU. Another reason why he should go. As for this being the time for stability and continuity - as others have said, there are a number of capable Deputy Speakers who could step up to the plate and do a better job. Lindsay Hoyle for one.
Dame Eleanor Laing (60 and single I think...)
Bercow said that he is stepping down in the summer of 2019, which will give the House of Commons time to select another Speaker. Bercow was not everyone's cup of tea, but he did have some 'presence' for a small bloke. Many of his predecessors, except Betty Boothryd, were mediocrities. So - under House traditions, the next Speaker will be selected from the Labour Benches. Perhaps Emily Thornberry, or even John Mcdonnal might make a wonderful Speakcer, or even Diane Abott (snigger).

The House really needs another Betty Boothryd figure to keep the House in order, and keep the braying of those 'donkeys' and 'jackasses' down.
Margaret Beckett (Lab) has just popped up saying he should hang on in there, mainly because it's a baaad time to be switching Speaker.

She's got a point, IMHO, given the state of both Government and Opposition in this crazy run up to Brexit.
No she hasn't.
Both the Deputy Speakers are sound - Lindsay Hoyle, Eleanor Laing
