Cheers but I suppose I should have stated UK! :x
I know 3 specialists in Germany with stock - EU transfers between RFD's are no drama...
Prices would run between 3-700 Euro depending on condition and matching no's, military sights or diopter versions (good ones are around 4-500 quid) which may be the reason he wants a 38? Not a problem.

a barrelled action I can restock for my client. I could get plenty of M96 but its too long without cutting, I'm not a complete vandal.

An email to these guys with your requirements may bring some input - if you need a hand let me know:

New barrels go for Euro 275 - presumably they are for M96's, but cutting down to a custom length and re-crowning is not expensive. I guess your client is looking for a budget option though, in which guess getting an M96 and cutting down would be cheaper than getting a M38 or M63 as they are more common.
Making sporters out of Gewehr 98's is quite common in Germany - plenty of stocks etc about:
http://www.egun.de/market/list_item...ff&wheremode=on&order=price&asdes=desc&page=1

There is a tidy M38 with matching numbers currently bidding at Euro 291, I would expect it to go 1-200 higher.

I know it's not a M 38, but my tame gunsmith has a box full of P14 actions with Fulton match triggers if anyone ever wants one made up into something interesting.

By the way, they don't lend themselves to an SLR magazine -- he tried it for a client, but was not happy with the amount of material that he had to remove to get it to work.

Ok I will take barrelled actions or Danish rifles, not fussed as long as it can be shipped to the UK. By the way what does EWB mean on the E Gun website and why dirt cheap rifles?

What kind of price are you looking at Ugly? I'm going to my local gunsmiths again on Monday, so I'll see if they still have the one I saw last time I was there.

I think a couple of hundred for a barrelled action, its not my budget, I have a stock ready for free. I dont know why I bother as the man is a pain in the bum!

Found one for you!

The one at the gunshop was sold, but I've just spotted another one being sold privately here in Denmark.
