    Wanted: UK diplomat for Vatican

The new ambassador will deal with Pope Benedict's Vatican
The job of UK ambassador to the Vatican is being advertised in a newspaper in a break with diplomatic convention.
It is the first time an ambassadorial post has been put out to open competition in an advert.

The job comes with a basic salary of between £42,640 and £60,405 - as well as a fully furnished residence and a £6,000 a year entertainment budget.

A Foreign Office spokesman said career diplomats could apply for the job but it could go to somebody outside.

The present ambassador, Kathryn Colvin, leaves the post in September after completing three years in the Holy See.
  2. Does the Vatican have a military attache post one could go for?
  3. It could even go to a friend of Tony's, or someone who works in Matrix Chambers. Or better still, the friend of someone who works in Matrix Chambers.

    Is this Bliar's exit strategy?.

Converts to RC, takes up post, gets feet under table, recommends Scottish hill-walking to Herr Benedict and the coup is complete. Or at least, that's what my tin-foil Pooka says.
  4. Man...that job is so mine!
  5. No it isn't.

I think a quick check of my avatar will confirm that it is already as good as mine
  6. Ha...you will go the way of John Paul Numero Uno. They don't call me 'God's slightly yappy and bitey small dog' for nothing you know.
