Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm thinking of buying a VW T5 Kombi van and convert it to a camper, but I would also like to use it as a daily runner. I have some concerns though about the running costs, MPG, insurance and the practicality of driving one round town and commuting to work on a daily basis.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Dont think you'll have a problem with them TBH only problem I'm aware of is they can pop a head gasket and 2nd prices are high due to demand. Should get around 40mpg so that shouldnt be a problem and insurance is easy I had a converted iveco as a camper was around £380 a year with roadside recovery from Herts insurance
