Virgin Media over Sky?

Just had a flyer through from Virgin Media offering us a really good deal on TV/Phone etc.
Looks better than Sky and just looking at the small print at the momment.

Who do others feel offers the best deal or service?
Not used Virgin for internet for 10 years, have they improved?

I had to go with Bt after years of being a customer with Virgin as the area we moved to wasn't covered. Broadband wise I prefer Virgin as when it goes wrong BT are incredibly slow and script driven somewhere in India, whereas Virgin seemed to be quicker and manage the whole of their fibre bed where BT have to source it back out to Open reach for an exchange fix . As for Tv services you never used to be able to get sky atlantic if you were with Virgin but that may have changed

I have had virgin since it took over NTL with no problems. I have upgraded and down graded seed over the years. a bit pissed when they blocked TV sharing sites. I also have TV but don't watch sport.

If you want give me your details and I'll get you on a mates rates package Plus our minimum broad band speed is more than what you'll get with Sky andTivo beats Sky plus hands down

Have been with Virginmedia since they were NTL have the Big Kahuna package TV, Phone and Broadband, the package is great. The broadband speed has been boosted up to 152mb which is blisteringly fast. Only drawback is the Customer Service which I think is in Mumbai. It can be highly frustrating, fecking annoying.

Never had a problem with Virginmedia, fast broadband as well and always reliable. Been with them since the NTL days.
My parents have Sky broadband and they always moan and bitch about the service they get and the crap broad bandspeed.

Been with them since they took over from NTL if memory serves me right, I have no trouble at all and find for the service its a reasonably priced broadband, the service in the main is stable and Up and Down speed are in the main reasonable, bearing in mind that regardless of provider sometimes the net is slow " That Porn wont watch itself you know".

Haven't had to deal with Customer Service more than a couple of times in the last 7 years or so but , sometimes its been offshore, but mostly Geordie based.

PM brettaridder and definitely get some mates rates... :p

It's in Bellshill so I can understand your confusion! Just gets routed wherever there's a spare line got calls centers India the Philippines and a few contractor centers in the UK as well although the Philipeno call centers are much better easier to understand and don't need to read from a script like the Indian ones

Wife twatted the router with the hoover, Virgin had a new one out to us the next day.
3 years ago our package was the basic 10mb broadband, but speed was always up around 20mb.
Then they doubled it, so now on 20mb but actually getting near 40, 6 months on and it doubled again.

Round my way, I'm seeing a lot of people jumping ship from Virgin due to price. I've got Sky TV and BT Broadband, mainly because I get the broadband free in the employee package ;-)

Used them for years after BT. Price is about same, but UK based customer service not indians with rigid script. Connection generally good, fast to fix so far when things have gone wrong. Recommended.

I have used Virgin for 14 years, we don't watch TV but their phone and broadband is fine 20meg it says and 20 meg it is.

However the price seems to creep up, I got it down to a reasonable figure to stop me from going elsewhere but they gradually put it back up.

Customer service has been fine as long as you don't get India!

Use a proxy....

I have just ditched Sky (after 8 years) for BT. I would have virgin at the drop of a hat if they had cable round here as the internet is much faster/stable on cable.

Virgin do sell packages without cable so check that first, if you area is cable enabled it's a no brainer really. Obviously don't get sucked in and order a TV package you are not going to use as I think you will be stuck with it for a year.
