News reports of hundreds of dead following clashes between Christian and Muslim groups.....

Not much of a surprise given the history of the area.

Is this an escalation of the problem in the country and could we see similar outbreaks of ethnic violence elsewhere in the near future?

What impact, if any, do you think that this will have on UK security over the next 12 months?

None, seeing as it has been going on many times a year for years. Both groups are rabid with their faith, and both believe the other is encroaching in their territory. The only people who will cry and moan will be the Septics - they already have said Nigerians will now be subject to more vigorous security checks after that tw@t failed to blow himself up recently. This despite the fact that shed loads of Nigerians live in the U.S., Canada and have done for donkeys years.
